That’s why our work is exclusively focused on child abuse and neglect prevention: --Public awareness campaigns --Parent education and support programs --Trainings and community based prevention programs For every $1 we invest now in prevention, we save $4 later on treatment related to child abuse and neglect. Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky’s Works Include: --1-800-CHILDREN helpline --Educational resources addressing strategies to deal with parental stress, child development, and discipline --Expert-led community and group trainings on pediatric abusive head trauma, recognizing and reporting child abuse, child sexual abuse prevention, Internet safety and more --Awareness campaigns such as Never Shake A Baby, Commit To Prevent, Pinwheels For Prevention and Child Abuse Prevention Month --Statewide Parent Education and Support Groups --Face Time Fatherhood Program --KIDS ARE WORTH IT! Conference – the Commonwealth’s only statewide conference focusing on child abuse and neglect prevention --Statewide Partners in Prevention Network: more than 100 partners – including individuals, groups, companies, schools, hospitals and associations all working together to keep Kentucky’s children safe In 2015, according to CHFS TWIST Data, 54,177 reports in Kentucky met criteria for further assessment or investigation by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Of those reports, 26,926 children were found to be victims of child abuse and neglect or in need of protection services. Thank you for committing to prevent child abuse. Your financial commitments helped: --Equip 73,622 Kentuckians with educational resources and materials on topics such as parenting, discipline, never shake a baby, and recognizing signs and symptoms of child abuse or neglect. --Provide 310 individuals with support on 1-800-CHILDREN. --Conduct 108 presentations educating 3,367 individuals on child abuse and neglect prevention. --Serve parents and caregivers 14,396 times through parent education and support services.
