Working to raise the standard of living in Appalachia by offering programs to cut the roots of poverty and promote independence.
An elderly woman in her seventies lived alone in an 80-year-old house. The house was falling apart and she had no way to pay for the work needed on the house. Eventually her pipes completely rotted and she could no longer use running water. She placed a porter-potty in her backyard and used it for several years until CAP was able to completely rebuild her house.
